Pousette-Dart, Richard Biography Richard Pousette-Dart was one of the founding members of the Abstract Expressionist movement of the 1940s and 1950s. He shares with his felloe Abstract-Expressionists an interst in communicating deeply felt experiences and exploring physical characteristics of materials. He was born in Minnesota to a painter and poet, In 1918 the family moved to New York where he did most of his work.
